SONify! 2024 | May 16-20

SONify! ist ein Festival für Musik, darstellende Kunst und künstlerische Forschung, das eine innovative erkenntnisorientierte künstlerische Praxis in den Vordergrund rückt und diese dem breiten Publikum greifbar nahe bringt. Die Einzigartigkeit von SONify! spiegelt sich schon in seiner Grundessenz: es werden künstlerische Darbietungen verschiedenster Stilrichtungen und Genres von der Alten bis zur Neuen Musik, Installationen und Performance durch das Prisma der neuartigen Formen der Präsentation unter einem Dach vereint.

Das Festival wurde von den Doktorand:innen der Doktoratsschule der Kunstuniversität Graz 2019 initiiert und seither in gemeinsamer Teamarbeit jährlich weitergeführt. Das diesjährige Organisationsteam wird von Judith Fliedl geleitet.

SONify! 2024 wird von 16. bis zum 20. Mai in Graz an mehreren Standorten stattfinden. In einer besonderen Kombination aus ungewöhnlichen, interaktiven, und interdisziplinären, oft publikumsbezogenen Konzertformaten, Konzertvorträgen, Installationen und informellem Austausch stellt das Festival die künstlerische Komponente der verschiedenen Forschungsthemen ins Rampenlicht und bringt die Öffentlichkeit in direkten Kontakt mit den aufregenden Grenzbereichen des Artistic Research. Nach seiner vierten Ausgabe im Jahr 2023 hat sich das Festival nun nachhaltig als eine wichtige Plattform innerhalb der Festivalszene und dem Bereich der künstlerisch-wissenschaftlichen Forschung verankert.

SONify! is a festival for music, performing arts and artistic research that focuses on innovative, knowledge-oriented artistic practice and makes it tangible to a broad audience. The uniqueness of SONify! is reflected in its basic essence: artistic performances of various styles and genres from early to new music, installations and performance are united under one roof through the prism of novel forms of presentation. 

The festival was initiated by the doctoral students of the Doctoral School of the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz in 2019 and has since been continued annually in a joint team effort. This year’s organizing team is led by Judith Fliedl. 

SONify! 2024 will take place at several locations in Graz from May 16 to 20. In a special combination of unusual, interactive and interdisciplinary, often audience-related concert formats, concert lectures, installations and informal exchange, the festival puts the artistic component of the various research topics in the spotlight and brings the public into direct contact with the exciting frontiers of artistic research. After its fourth edition in 2023,  the festival has now sustainably anchored itself as an important platform within the artistic research scene.
