Roxanne Dykstra, violist, is a dynamic artist with a wide range of professional and educational experience. Her higher studies include undergraduate studies in both piano and viola, a Masters of viola performance from the Univ. de Montréal, chamber music studies at the Conservatorio di Milano; she was also awarded a Prix of Masters from the CSNMD (France) M.Mus. She has been performing chamber, orchestral, and solo work across Europe and Canada for almost two decades, playing with a variety of chamber ensembles, the Vancouver, Toronto and Okanagan symphonies, in positions with the Prince George Symphony and at Opera Teatro Sao Carlo, Lisbon (National Orchestra of Portugal).
Roxanne is passionate about sharing through music, and curious about opening opportunities to do so. She actively promotes musical opportunities for performance and excellence in education, directing several projects including the Orchestra North Summer Program (Canada, various locations) and the Spirit of the North Classical Music Festival (Smithers, Canada), exploring the artistic and musical expression of the Canadian public. Musical Transcription has been playing an increasingly important role in her work as both performer and teacher, and Roxanne currently is working in the field with the KUG doctoral school of Artistic Research as a doctoral school assistant and research assistant. Roxanne thrilled to be part of the team that will present the first edition of SONify!
